Municipal Government Litigation
In today's world, businesses and individuals are not the only ones facing lawsuits. Local governments and municipal authorities, as well as their officers and board members, have become the target of a variety of lawsuits and claims. Such lawsuits seek to avoid the traditional immunity provided to municipal governments and their officers.

At Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP, the Municipal Government Litigation Group specializes in representing governmental authorities, boards and officers with respect to liability owed to or by third-parties, whether that liability be premised in contract or tort. From sewage rate disputes to premises liability claims to RICO violations, the Group's attorneys have the experience and knowledge to counsel and represent governmental clients in all types of litigation which may be pursued against or by them.

The Group's experience and knowledge in municipal litigation includes the practical experience which several of the Group's attorneys have as a result of serving as solicitor to numerous communities throughout Western Pennsylvania. Additionally, many of the Firm's lawyers currently serve and have served on zoning hearing boards, planning boards and as labor and/or litigation counsel to municipalities and municipal authorities located in Allegheny County and the surrounding areas. This "hands-on" experience has proven invaluable with respect to the Group's representation of municipal clients and their officers.

As counsel to municipalities and municipal authorities and boards, Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP applies its extensive knowledge of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code to interpret and resolve issues in such areas as zoning and community planning. In this capacity, the Firm has represented municipalities and municipal boards and authorities in administrative hearings and in state and federal courts on both the trial and appellate level.

The attorneys of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott's Municipal Litigation Group possess the knowledge, experience, and dedication necessary to counsel and represent municipal clients on all types of litigation matters. Please contact us if you have any questions or need advice regarding municipal litigation matters.
