The Construction Law Group of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP is part of the Firm's Litigation Department, but the Group's origins stem from the Firm's Transaction Department. In particular, the Firm's expertise in construction law has its roots in a substantial commercial law practice (including bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and bonds) and our representation of management on various labor matters. Indeed, it is this expertise which has enabled us to serve as counsel to several local contracting associations, including the Mechanical Contractors Association and SMACNA of Western Pennsylvania, Inc., the Ironworkers Employers Association of Western Pennsylvania, the Boiler Maker Employers Association of Western Pennsylvania, and the Insulation Contractors Association of Pittsburgh.
Today, the Firm's expertise in construction law has grown to such an extent that our representation of construction industry clients has become both diversified and specialized. We have represented clients involved on projects for the construction of a major airport, a subway, power plants, steel mills, manufacturing plants, sewage treatment plants and collection systems, various other commercial and industrial projects, hospitals and other medical facilities, schools, office buildings, warehouses, apartment buildings and public housing. Moreover, our representation of clients has reached beyond major projects in Allegheny County and Western Pennsylvania to other parts of Pennsylvania and to other states including New Jersey, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, Louisiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama and Nevada.
