‘An explosion in calls’: As evictions return, more volunteers needed for Landlord-Tenant Hotline

Antoinette Oliver is quoted by WESA, Pittsburgh’s NPR News Station, in their article ‘ ‘An explosion in calls’: As evictions return, more volunteers needed for Landlord-Tenant Hotline’

The article focuses on the volunteer work of the Landlord-Tenant hotline, a project of the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership.

“Since the pandemic and really since the end of [Emergency Rental Assistance] funding, we have seen an explosion in calls,” said Antoinette Oliver of law firm Meyer, Unkovic and Scott. “Where we would get 10 or 15 calls a week, we have over 50 calls a week.”

Callers are able to receive legal advice regarding eviction cases, as well as other housing issues including utility shut-offs and health and safety issues affecting habitability.
